Public Adminstration is a worthwhile career choice and it can also be lucrative. In a time where people are calling on public servants to be recalled for not properly listening to the voice of the people, it is time to bring in new highly motivated public servants. A degree in Public Adminstration can help to make that change possible.

Public Adminstration is a degree that teaches the students how to properly manage a career in public service as well as how to maintain good public relations. Public officials are always being held up to the light for their moral beliefs and standards along with their personal ethical decision making ability.

Knowing how to navigate public policy and procedures is a great benefit to the Public Administration program. Students usually have the option of completing several internship opportunities and programs that give them hands on training in public administration.

A degree continues to hold a level of prestige that affords individuals more open opportunity for growth. A degree in Public Administration does not close off other career choices, but it helps to narrow some of the broad areas. Public Administration has many specializations that can also further concentrate a students focus.

You’ve found the best online school for your needs but you’re worried you won’t have the focus required to get your schoolwork done. Here are a few of our tips for making the most of your online college experience while still maintaining your sanity…
Get a good connection: There’s nothing more frustrating than losing your internet connection when you need it most. Get online with WildBlueDeals or a DSL provider and find out how to quickly get in touch with customer service.
Clear Out a Space: Pick a room or a desk in your house that you’ll always use for class and note taking. This will keep you focused and allow you to feel more serious about what you’re doing when you sit down to begin a lesson.
Set Aside a Time: Choose a time each day when you’ll devote a couple of hours to studying. This may be in the mornings or evening, depending on your schedule but stick to it even when you don’t have a lot of work to do. You’ll appreciate the stability of the timeline when you are swamped.

If you have a child that is still living at home while pursuing their online degree you may want to make yourself aware of a few tips that will help study time be more streamline, less frustrating, and most beneficial for everyone.

Make it a house rule that during study time the television will be turned off. As far as the radio, observe how your child functions with the radio on some will be affected by it as a distraction while studies show that some students actually perform better with music. Each student is different, so it’s up to you (and them) to make the judgement call.

Speaking of house rules, there should be common agreement about phone calls and texting, as well. And this holds true for not only the student who is studying, but for other family members whose activities on their own phones may create a distraction for the one doing the studying. It is possible to live without phone access for an hour or two each day.

Regular habits create strong and successful habits. This holds true with designating certain times as study times each day and then holding fast to the schedule. Not only will it benefit the outcome of studying, but it mimics what’s expected in the real world of holding a job.

Watch for signs of frustration while your child is doing their homework, and if severe, you may need to intervene as a distraction to break the cycle or even halt the studying in its entirety for that session. When someone is frustration, learning does not occur so it’s pointless to stay stuck I the cycle. Offer to help explain what the child finds frustrating or just create a diversion for a short period. Keep in mind, too, that a child will mimic what they see around them, so when it comes to problem-solving of your own, exhibit calmness and determination whenever possible.

While these tips are written for parents of children, the same holds true if the parents themselves are involved in studying. Healthy study habits are effective regardless of age or other demographic.

If you’re one of the many people that believe in the tried-and-true adage that information is power, then you may want to arm yourself with some of the following books that provide excellent content on improving your study habits. We recommend that you review a couple of them to develop your own list of what works best for you since everyone has different styles (and needs) when it comes to improving study habits.Pocket Guide to Study Tips ( George Ehrenhaft, Willilam H. Armstrong) is a definitive guide to organizing and scheduling study time, taking notes, and diagnosing subject weakness and areas needing more intensive study. For many years this guide has helped college students and business professionals in an easy-to-locate reference format. How to Become a Straight-A Student: The Unconventional Strategies Real College Students Use to Score High While Studying Less (Cal Newport) is considered a “breakthrough approach” to acing academic assignments, from quizzes and exams to essays and papers by revealing the proven study secrets of real straight-A students across the country and weaving them into a simple, practical system that anyone can master.Last Minute Study Tips (Ron Fry) offers easy-to-digest explanations of how to study smart and then guides readers as they get closer to their deadline–from months to weeks to hours to even minutes before–offering advice, face-saving tips and tricks for salvaging any situation.

It’s been a while since you’ve been in school; plus, you have three kids now and a full time job. With so much happening in your life, obtaining a degree seems impossible. However, online courses offer a way of earning your degree on your schedule. But with so many programs to choose from, and the continued prestige of your local university, how do you know online education is right for you? Review our pros and cons to help you make that final decision. The ProsUnlike traditional learning, distance learning can offer you greater flexibility, as you don’t have to waste time- and money- commuting to the campus and you can choose a program that truly suits your interests or professional needs, because you are not confined to the classes that are offered locally.Another advantage to distance learning is the fact that you can continue to work, because you don’t have to worry about fitting your classes around your job schedule. This is a distinct advantage over traditional methods of learning, because this option allows you to continue earning while you study. Furthermore, online programs often cost less than their traditional counterparts, so you can save money on tuition, too.The ConsHowever, with all the pros, there are some drawbacks to online education. For example, traditional instructors may not successfully make the transition from the classroom to the online platform and it can sometimes be difficult for them to transfer course content or offer additional support to the students. While the technological aspects of online learning can make the courses more interesting and interactive, some students may not have the computer hardware to support the specific programs required for the class. Many courses require DSL or a high-speed internet connection in order for the student to interact effectively with the instructor or other students.Similarly, online learning can rob the student of the conventional aspects of classroom interaction, such as being able to talk to the instructor or the other students, face-to-face.In spite of the drawbacks, however, many new and returning students are opting to study via distance learning and are finding it to be a very rewarding experience. If you’re looking for a way to earn your degree, and keep your current lifestyle relatively undisturbed, you should certainly research online courses.

In today’s world, the career market has become extremely competitive. Employers have so many potential candidates to choose from and they can be very picky in the candidate that they select for the job. The job search process is grueling: featuring writing and rewriting your resume and completing several interviews. However, there is one thing that almost all employers say that they look for on a resume, and that is the candidate’s educational background. You may be asking yourself: “but isn’t my work experience more important??” The answer is actually yes and no. If you have work experience, an employer will definitely take note of this. However if you have work experience, but no strong educational background, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. When applying for a job, there will be other candidates with great work experience. If these candidates also have a strong educational background, they have a higher chance of being chosen for the position. If you never had the opportunity to obtain your degree, finding the time to go back to school might feel impossible. However, online education has changed the way you can pursue a program of study. Online education allows business professionals to balance their job or career with the pursuit of a degree. Online courses are extremely flexible and allow you to work on your own schedule. As such, earning your education has become much easier. So you might still be asking, how will an online degree benefit me? In addition to the work experience that you have gained over the years, you will have the educational background that you previously lacked. By earning an online degree, you will become a well-rounded applicant for any future position that you wish to obtain. An online degree is beneficial for anyone hoping to progress within his or her current company, too. By taking the time to complete an online education program, you will improve your professional knowledge of your field. Not only will your new knowledge greatly benefit you in any future projects that you undertake, but it will be noticed by your colleagues.Whether you are searching for a new position, or hoping for a promotion in your current job, an online degree can further your career.

Online education is one of the best things that the internet has to offer. Thanks to online education, people who thought they couldn’t get the education they had always dreamed of are now achieving their educational goals. Whether it is working adults, advanced students or senior citizens, people everywhere are singing praises about online education. However, it is extremely important to realize that not all online education is the same. Although there are lots of very good online education institutions, there are plenty (if not just as many) online education programs which are nothing more than scams. In order to avoid wasting your time and money on a scam, it is important to understand how to choose a legitimate online education institution. By educating yourself on what to look for in a legitimate online education institution, you will be able to easily discern the online programs which will help you get ahead in life from those that will do nothing more than set you back a couple months and a few hundred dollars.Accreditation When evaluating online education institutions, the most important thing you should look for is accreditation. If an online college degrees program presented by an institution, it should be an accredited institute. If it is not legitimate and is actually nothing more than a scam, then it will not be accredited. Because of the prevalence of scams on the internet, almost every accredited program will proudly display it on the home page of their web site. These programs know that they are in a field filled with frauds, so they want to make sure that you can trust that they are legitimate. Although it is possible (even though rare) for an institution to fake the fact that they are accredited, it is the best starting point to weed out potential frauds.Third-Party ReviewsOnce you have found an online degree program that is accredited, the next step in your evaluation should be non-biased, third-party reviews. This means you need to find reviews of the online education institution other than those proudly displayed on their web site. This can easily be accomplished by doing a little searching on Google or Yahoo. Honest reviews from individuals who have already had experience with that institution are a great way to not only determine if they are legitimate, but to also get a feel for what the program is really like.Common SenseThe finally step in evaluating an institution is common sense. In reality, this step should be employed throughout the entire evaluation process. If a program seems too good to be true or raises a flag in your head, then you should avoid that specific institution. Nine times out of ten, your gut feeling will lead you in the right direction, so do not be afraid to follow your common sense.By following the steps listed above, you will not only be able to weed out the bad online programs, but you will also be able to select that one that best fits your situation, needs and goals.
